The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai announced that 20 foreign residents had so far converted to Islam following open dialogues at Reef Mall and Mall of the Emirates.

Yusra Al Gaood, deputy head of Edification and Religious Guidance Department, said the function themed ‘Fair Dialogue with Peoples’ was part of a strategy based on a moderate approach in inviting to the way of Allah. “This reflects the tolerance and the message of Islam.”She added that the activity, to continue till the end of the holy month of Ramadan, focused on the basic principles and teachings of Islam and the biography of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
“A big number of Muslims and non-Muslims approached the function to better know the authentic message of Islam without any misrepresentation prevailing in (some) mass media.”
The department, as part of its Ramadan activities, organised a free Iftar banquet for 400 new Muslims.
The converts, hailing from different foreign countries — mostly India, the Philippines, China, Russia and Ethiopia — were hosted at a hotel apartment in Deira.
