FORMER South African First Lady Ms Graca Machel is on Tuesday expected to launch an ambitious project designed to bring back to school around 20,000 children in Mara Region.
Mara Regional Administrative Secretary Mr Benedict Ole Kuyan confirmed this on Monday.
The project will be implemented by Graca Machel Trust(GMT) in collaboration with the government and other stakeholders. Mara Regional Commissioner Mr Magesa Mulongo will attend the function.
This is the second time, Ms Machel is visiting Mara Region after her visit last year in Tarime District where she assessed progress of the ongoing anti-FGM and child marriage campaigns.
Her organisation has of late joined other partners working hard to fight child marriage and FGM in the region. Mara is rated as one of the five top regions practising FGM in the country.
