A Qantas passenger thought to have suffered a heart attack inmid-air has died, despite the plane making an emergency landing in Oman, according to Australia’s 9news.com.au
The Observer was not able to contact with the Muscat Airport authorities at the time of writing this report.
The airbus A380 was en route to London from Melbourne when the medical emergency occurred, starting what proved, unfortunately,
to be a losing race against time.
“The plane started to make a very fast descent and then later the pilot confirmed that they were making an emergency landing in Muscat,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted a passenger.
“The patient was being treated on the floor in the middle of everyone. He died before they could land and when they landed a string of people came on board to examine the situation.
“About an hour later they removed the body and distraught wife and travelling companions.”
Qantas confirmed the emergency. “Our crew did everything they could, including helping perform CPR with a doctor who was on board,” a spokeswoman said.
