The Tanzanian government has invited experts from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and Britain's Scotland Yard to assess security in Zanzibar following attacks on two Catholic priests and a Muslim cleric, Tanzania's Daily News reported Tuesday (February 26th).
The experts are expected to help the government avoid similar attacks in the future.
"President [Jakaya] Kikwete has made it clear that the country was even ready to part with a substantial amount of money to have this mission accomplished," said Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Pereira Ame Silima, adding that the experts will arrive in March. "As a country, we are committed to making sure we deal with the matter more effectively."
Silima also called for regional efforts to help identify migrants with criminal records trying to enter the country.
