Minister visits Wadi Dayqah, Al Khoudh dams, reviews water level — MUSCAT — The Directorate-General of Meteorology and Air Navigation said the weather system that has influenced the Sultanate’s northern governorates began to clear away last evening. The Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources Ahmed bin Abdullah al Shuhi yesterday visited Wadi Dayqah Dam in the Wilayat of Qurayat and reviewed the water level in the dam and the procedures that are being taken to reduce the water in the dam.
Al Shuhi also visited Al Khoudh Dam in the Wilayat of Seeb gave his orders to take and appropriate quick measures to control the level of water to ensure safety of those residing close to the dam. The minister also visited a several wilayats in the governorates of North and 1367598727996201500South Al Batinah and was briefed on the efforts taken by the Ministry to provide services during the last days.
During his visit to the Wilayats of Saham and Al Khaboura, Al Shuhi visited the Wadi Aahin and Wadi Al Houasna dams and road and services projects that were affected by the rainfall and overflow of wadis during the unstable weather conditions that influenced the Sultanate during the previous weeks.
The Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources gave his directive to the directorate-generals in governments to take the suitable measures that bring everything to normal as soon as possible affirming that all reports and complaints of the people should be given due attention.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources continued its efforts yesterday to clear the effects of heavy downpours 1367598727946201400that lashed the several governorates and led to overflow of wadis during the past weeks. During the past number of days the ministry provided municipal and water services while taking the necessary measures that can reduce the effect of the rains and bring the situation to normality.
In Musandam Governorate the Ministry formed emergency teams in the Wilayats of Khasab, Mad’ha and Daba with the ministry’s employees and workers putting in great efforts to clear the roads for traffic and clean the debris from wadis and neighbourhoods. In South Al Batinah Governorate the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources carried out a campaign aimed at opening the roads for traffic and clear the rubbish from the streets. — ONA
