Deputy Minister Maalim launches publication on 'Legal challenges of integrating Zanzibar in EAC'

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mahadhi Juma Maalim
A new series of scientific publications including one on the legal maze that Zanzibar has to negotiate as Tanzania and the rest of the East African Community work to cement relations and solidify the trading bloc union.

Titled: “The United Republic of Tanzania in the East African Community - Legal Challenges in Integrating Zanzibar,” the publication is the work of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mahadhi Juma Maalim.

Yesterday marked the official launch of the publication at a brief event hosted by the Tanzanian-German Centre for Eastern African Legal Studies (TGCL) in cooperation with the German Embassy in Dar es Salaam.
Another publication launched at the event is the work of Lillian Mihayo Mongella who took a close look at the right to compensation for victims of armed conflicts in East Africa, she wrote a case study of genocide victims in Rwanda.

Yet another publication launched was the “East African Community Tax Harmonisation”, written by Anatole Nahayo, which engages critically with the viability of the tax harmonisation for income tax laws in the regional bloc.

Another highlight was the book edited by Josaphat L. Kanywanyi, Ulrike Wanitzek, Anatole Nahayo and Johannes Döveling that deals with “Regional Integration and Law” comparing the East African Community and European Union perspectives.
