UAE: Odour leads man to father’s decomposed body in Kalba in Sharjah!

  • Police believe security guard who had been taking care of the 62-year-old Emirati committed the murder to flee with cash
Sharjah - The decomposed body of a 62-year-old Emirati was found at his house in Kalba. The elderly man, who was very ill, had only a security guard to take care of him. The body bore marks of violence on the skull, which the police believe were inflicted by the guard. The deceased’s wallet is missing, which had an undisclosed amount of cash. The police believe that the guard killed the elderly man and fled with his cash.

One of the neighbours called the son of the deceased complaining of a bad odour from inside the house. The son rushed to the house and knocked on the door, expecting the guard to open it. The guard, however, did not and with his neighbour’s help, the son broke open the door to find his father’s decomposed body.

The son tried calling on the guard’s mobile phone, which was found switched off. The guard’s friends reportedly told the son that the former left for Bangladesh.
The devastated son called the police, who arrived at the crime scene and collected fingerprints and other forensic evidence. The body has been transferred to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.

Prima facie investigations have revealed that the victim was hit on the head with a blunt object, which caused internal bleeding and damages to the skull and brain. Investigations also revealed that the victim resisted the attacks for a long time, the police said.

Fingerprints lifted from the site belong to the security guard, who had been taking care of the deceased for the past 10 years on a monthly salary provided by his children. The prime suspect in the case, the police said, is the guard, who is believed to have stolen the deceased’s wallet.

The police said the suspect managed to leave the country. “If the crime was discovered on the day of its occurrence, the suspect would not have been able to escape. The police will make all efforts to arrest him and bring him to justice,” a senior police official said.
