A new Guinness record to welcome His Majesty

A new Guinness record to welcome His Majesty
On May 13, the private schools of Muscat, in the presence of His Highness Al Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said, Advisor to His Majesty, came together for a special event to celebrate and mark the return of His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos creating the world’s largest mosaic made up of greeting cards
The initiative exhibits a great deal of cooperation among private schools of Muscat that came together to deliver their own unique message to welcome His Majesty home. The event was organized under the supervision of the Directorate of Private Schools, Ministry of Education.

The Private Schools created a mosaic of the national flag of Oman, measuring 18m by 11m (aligned with the National Day of Oman the 18th of November). This ultimately gave an area of 198 square meters, significantly breaking the previous world record established on Nov 23,  2014 in Hong Kong covering an area of 150.04 square meters
A giant slope of 18m by 11m was fabricated at As Seeb International School in Al Khoud, on which the mosaic was created. 7,500 greeting cards were distributed to 182 private schools in Muscat, and after messages were written by students and teachers these were pasted onto the mosaic by a team of art teachers and students.
The efforts culminated in a grand event held on the evening of 13th May. HH Sayyid was invited to place the final card onto the mosaic, and received the authenticity certificate for the world record from the Guinness World Record representative. The event was graced by the Members of Royal family, Ministers, VIP’s, and representatives from Private Schools.
Madam Fatma Noorani, Directorate General of Private Schools , stated she was delighted to see so many schools cooperate and come together to create the mosaic for the world record to pay a truly special and memorable tribute to our great & beloved His Majesty.
