Speaking to the ‘Daily News,’ Khatib said the meeting would be followed by a Central Committee meeting to discuss a number of issues.
“The agenda of the Central Committee meeting is not yet known. It will be made available after the secretariat meeting today, “ he said.
He said the party secretariat would be meeting under the chairmanship of the CCM Secretary General, Mr Abdulrahman Kinana, who will cut short his tour in the Lake Zone for the extraordinary meeting.
Sources have it that the secretariat meeting is to discuss, among other things, the Wednesday go-slow by staff at the party’s newspaper, Uhuru, as well as the trend of the presidential nomination race, whose number of presidential hopefuls had tallied 40 by Thursday.
The 34 CC team includes the party national chairman and vice-chairmen for both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, the prime minister, senior figures in the party secretariat, selected members from the National Executive Committee and CCM wing leaders.
