- It took her nearly two hours to cover the distance of 1km.
According to reports in Mid-Day, Jyoti Gaud started experiencing labour pains on Saturday evening and started for the hospital along with her parents in an auto-rickshaw. However, in spite of the Samanya Rugnalaya Hospital being just a kilometre away from Malwani, where Jyoti was staying with her parents, it took them over 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach there. The delay in reaching the hospital was caused due to increased traffic on Marve Road especially as it was a weekend.
Gaud's mother was quoted as saying, "It took us 1.45 hours to cover just 1km. Weekend traffic causes a lot of problems. The government should either widen the roads or manage the traffic better so that no one has to face such a situation."
However, post the delivery, Jyoti was admitted in the general ward of the hospital along with the baby and both the mother and the newborn are said to be safe.
Jyoti, who lives with her husband in Jaunpur, had come to her parents' home in Malwani in August last year after she conceived her second child.
