He cited an example of the CCM presidential candidate Dr John Pombe Magufuli saying that he is not clean as Tanzanians believe since he was accused for the disappearance of Sh87 billion which was ministry’s money.
Speaking on Thursday at People’s ground in Singida region, Zitto who is topmost leader of the Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) said Sh252 billion allocated for electricity, roads and other special projects were disbursed by the World Bank, after the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) questioned Dr Magufuli they found that Sh87bn lack proper explanation on how it was used.Zitto who was also Chadema Deputy Secretary General noted that after the Bank of Tanzania disbursed the funds, more than Sh. 87 billion did not have any evidence on how it was used, the situation shows that the money were taken into the pockets of unspecified people.
“CCM and Ukawa are the same. Roads that were constructed two years ago are currently impassable and are damaged. All of them are corrupt. Dr Magufuli doesn’t have the power to make decisions; been placed there by fellow swindlers,” he said.
He said that even Ukawa has lost the meaning and it has also lost its vision completely by their decision to accept former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa from CCM to be their opposition presidential candidate.
“Now you can see. If you vote for Magufuli you choose CCM and if you vote for Lowassa you choose CCM as well. Now Ukawa says corruption is a certain system and not the people is not true, they are saying Lowassa is clean which is also not true, all of them are corrupted and worthless,” said Zitto.
He said previously Ukawa said ACT-Wazalendo was established so that Lowassa would join the party in case of being rejected by CCM but on the other hand Lowassa was the one who was sponsoring Chadema.
“Chadema leaders are selling the party because of one person who has already joined them,’ he said.
Due to that situation, he said, ACT-Wazalendo plans to build a new political agenda to ensure each person wishing to join the party should publicly declare their wealth and arrears.
According to Zitto, the declaration ACT-Wazalendo issued in Tabora was to honor the founders of this nation including the late Julius Nyerere, who set out those terms at the 1967 Arusha Declaration for socialism and self-reliance, including preventing public officials from engaging in corruption.
He said that due to the fact Ukawa and CCM are the same, now it is the high time for Tanzanians to change political aspect by voting for ACT-Wazalendo counselors and legislators during the forthcoming general election.
Prior, ACT-Wazalendo national chairperson Anna Mughwira said that after the general meeting approved her to contest for Singida town constituency she intends to change development of the area to become a model of other constituency in the country.
“Singida were left behind for years since colonial era despite of having several agriculture products including onions, sunflowers, sorghum and others. This region was used as an area for transporting refugees but we need to change so that we can have a developed region,” she declared.
