MUMBAI: Woman jumps to death after daughter commits suicide!

• The mother could not come to terms with daughter's death.

In a shocking incident, a devastated mother jumped off from the 17th floor of a building, a day after her 19-year-old daughter killed herself.

According to reports in DNA, Saguna Kodamanchili, 45, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was in a state of shock after daughter Navya who was a chartered accountant died after consuming rat poison. Police sources said that Navya was admitted two days ago at a private hospital after she consumed rat poison but died during treatment.Saguna could not come to terms with Navya's death and jumped off the posh building in Vasant Vihar area whilst arrangements for her daughter's funeral were being made. "Around 5:30 am on Sunday, Saguna's husband ran behind her to stop her from jumping but before he could reach her, she had already jumped off.Navya had recently given her exams and we are wondering why she took such a drastic step," said a resident of the building.

"We have recorded statements of the family's relatives and the preliminary inquiry is on to ascertain the reason for Navya's death as no suicide note was left behind by the girl. Saguna's body was handed over to her family after conducting postmortem," said Ganpat Pingale, senior police inspector.
