A 14-year-old girl died after she was electrocuted by a faulty iPhone 6 charger cable. The teenager, Le Thi Xoan, was sleeping and rolled on to the charger while it was plugged in, which electrocuted her with the current.

Apparently, the charger cable was damaged and torn and was temporarily repaired with a tape. According to police in Hanoi, Vietnam, the girl was exposed to the burnt cable on her bed and a slight tear in the rubber casing may have revealed the live wires inside.The girl was found unconscious by her parents who rushed to a local hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. According to investigators, the girl might be laying her iPhone on the bed every night and put it for charging. The charger cable is being inspected but the authorities are yet to determine whether it was the original Apple wire or a third-party device.

However, a picture of the burnt cable shows the wire to be shorter than Apple's original 20-inch charging cable. It also shows a transparent tape wrapped around the front of the cable.
