BEYOND THE FINAL WHISTLE!
- THE WORLD CUP IS OVER... THE REAL MATCH CONTINUES

- ZNK Reflects on Dr. Shaaban Fundi's Thought-Provoking Article
A few days ago, on this platform, Dr. Shaaban Fundi concluded his thought-provoking article with a question that should concern every African parent, teacher, broadcaster and policymaker:
“Long after the final whistle, who really won the battle for the minds, habits, and aspirations of the next generation?”
That question deserves more than passing reflection.
The advertisements surrounding major global sporting events are not selected casually. Vast sums of money are invested because corporations understand the extraordinary power of repetition, celebrity and aspiration. When a child repeatedly sees an admired footballer associated with a particular meal, drink, snack or betting platform, the product may gradually become linked in that child's mind with achievement, excitement and modern life.
Let us be clear. Businesses exist to sell products and generate profits. That is the nature of commerce. We should therefore never expect advertisers to assume the responsibility of deciding what is healthiest, wisest or most appropriate for our children.
The seller's first concern is the sale. The protection of the child must remain ours.

Zanzibar turns to AI revolution to attract global tech giants!
The expo, organised by South Africa-based Africa Business Inc in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, Information Technology and Innovation and the Unique Touch Company, aims to bring together policymakers and technology stakeholders to discuss and promote the growth of the digital economy.
Speaking at a press briefing on the expo on Friday, July 24, 2026, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and Innovation Mudrik Ramadhan Soraga said the initiative is part of efforts to position Zanzibar as an attractive destination for investment by leading global technology companies.
"We want to see major global technology companies such as Google, Amazon, Meta and others establish their headquarters or branches here, and for Zanzibar to become a centre of innovation. To achieve that, we need platforms such as this," said Mr Soraga.
