Tanzania: Kikwete Mourns Killed U.S. Diplomat
Kikwete deeply mourning!
18 SEPTEMBER 2012
PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete added his voice in condemning the killing of the US ambassador to Libya and three other American officials last week.
The ambassador, Christopher Stevens, and the other Americans were killed after Islamist gunmen attacked the US consulate and a safe house refuge in Benghazi on Tuesday night. The attackers were part of a mob blaming America for a film they said insulted the Prophet Mohammed.
In his condolence message to the US President, Barack Obama, according to a statement issued in Dar es Salaam, President Kikwete said the killings had touched many people around the World.
"Our government will do whatever it takes to make sure that what happened in Libya and the Middle East does not happen in Tanzania," read the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.
According to the president, the late Stevens will be remembered for his tireless efforts and commitment in pursuit of international peace and security.
"At this moment of agony and distress, we share your pain and pray to the Almighty God to give the families and relatives of the deceased strength and fortitude. We also wish a quick recovery to the injured," read the statement. Reports from Libya have it that at least 50 people have been arrested over the killings.
Huyu Rais wa kwetu alivyokuwa mpofu!
ReplyDeleteBaada ya kumsikitikia Mwangosi majeshi yake yaliyomuuwa, yeye anawasikitikia hawa majambazi wa kimarekani!
Dear Mr/Miss/Mrs Anonymous,
DeleteKumbe ndio maana rafiki yangu Shk Abdalla Hamis akasema kuwa sio kila Mtanzania anaweza ku-comment kwenye mambo ya international relationships between nations.
He was definitely right!
