Union of Two Government System Should Stay - Shein

By Issa Yussuf, 14 October 2012

PRESIDENT Ali Mohamed Shein

Zanzibar — PRESIDENT Ali Mohamed Shein has urged members of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) to elect party leaders who are devoted in protecting party policies including safeguarding the current structure of the Union.

"As you elect new leaders, make sure we get leaders who will promote national unity, integrity including protecting the two government union structure which is a CCM policy," Shein in his speech to officiate the opening of the CCM Urban regional meeting to elect leaders said.
Shein informed members present at the meeting held at Amani area on Unguja Island on Saturday that CCM needs capable, honest, and hardworking leaders who will promote unity as part of the party 2010/2015 manifesto.

"We need to lead by example and others will definitely follow, but for one to be a good leader, he or she should be ready to learn and share experiences," Shein said adding that CCM members and leaders should brag about the development achievements recorded over the past 49 years of revolution, "The most important thing of all is to sustain Zanzibar and Tanganyika union.

We should spare no effort in protecting the union formed in 1964 and CCM ideology and policies," said Shein. The President also reminded CCM members of their individual roles in maintaining peace and stability in the politically volatile Islands of Zanzibar.

"Socialism known as Ujamaa and self-reliance (Kujitegemea) remain the party basic ideology," he said. CCM has been conducting internal elections from grass root level to national level expected to end next month.
