
No threat of tsunami as mild tremors felt in Sultanate - By Kabeer Yousuf and ONA - MUSCAT — The C and parts of Pakistan yesterday, measuring 7.9 on the Richter Scale, has had no direct impact on the Sultanate, as the epicentre was 610 km away from Muscat. Though tremors are expected, there is no fear of any tsunami. This came in a statement by Dr Issa al Husseini, Director of the Seismological Centre at the Sultan Qaboos University, who reaffirmed that the epicentre was far enough to avoid damage to properly constructed buildings in Oman.
