Commander Kova sounded the caution when addressing Muslims in Dar es Salaam Region on the second day of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations at the weekend.
He was the guest of honour at a function to launch an Islamic album titled “Tanzania’s Peace” which has been prepared by Swautun Naqiy group.
He warned perpetrators of illegal acts who are fond of inciting others into breaking the law to channel their demands through legal procedures instead of emulating Muslims in some other parts of the world who press for their democracy by using force resulting into bloodshed.
Songs in the album carry the message of peace and harmony, which the group requests all Tanzanians to maintain.
Presented by Ustadh Mohammed Shaugy and Hasan Juma, the main theme in the song is meant to alert Tanzanians not to disrupt the long standing peace the country has been enjoying since independence.
According to the two composers, the celebrations were a sign that Muslims are after peace and that is why they have decided to prepare an album as a way of disseminating a message about peace among the people in the country.
Commander Kova noted in his speech that, although it’s a legal right for one to demand one’s rights, but true democracy cannot be attained through bloodshed except through legal channels.
He has asked believers to obey the laid down laws of the land while pressing for their rights to consolidate peace in the country.
He reminded fellow Muslims that, the Holy Book of Quran does not allow believers to engage in malpractices saying those who practices them go against the teachings of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W .
“All religions in the country should help to maintain peace as they preach love for one another,” he said, adding that all people should respect other people’s religions. He urged all Sheikhs to educate youths in this aspect so as to make them spiritual role models.
He called on Muslims to collaborate with other religions to maintain the existing peace in the country, which has made the country attract investors assuring Tanzania youths on employment opportunities.
Commander Kova bought 20 albums in the form of DVD cassettes each worth 5,000/- which he awarded to invited guests and some Dar es Salaam Region sheikhs who attended the occasion.
For his part, the Dar es Salaam Regional Sheikh Alhaj Mussa Salum thanked the commander for the efforts he has made towards ensuring peace in the city. He cautioned
Muslims against engaging in chaos, saying this would cost them later.
He gave the example of some countries in the world which previously had peace like Tanzania, but all of a sudden their citizens were living in fear.
