Kevele expressed sentiments over how many Tanzanians are forced to spend too much money every year travelling to India and other countries for heart treatment because the country lacks a modern hospital to handle cardiac related ailment.
Speakiing yesterday in Dar es Salaam Kevele said: “Getting treatment in India is reasonably affordable but what makes it expensive is accommodation and transport,” he explained.
“Construction of the hospital will be a relief to many Tanzanians who would otherwise have to travel abroad cutting into their limited budgets,” Kevela said.
He revealed that the investor is not new to the country and already owns a well equipped modern cardiac treatment facility in India known as PARAS.
According to Kevela, he has already had talks with the Minster for Health and Social Welfare Dr Hussein Mwinyi who also showed interest in the initiative and applauded his efforts in steering foreign investors to the health sector.
“The minister received the news with delight and assured as his support,” Kevela said.
