An Emirati woman was rescued by Fujairah cops after the car’s cruise control failed while travelling at 140 kmph.
The panicked driver, identified as A.M.A., was unable to bring the vehicle to a stop and called the Fujairah Police Operations Room for help while she was on her way to Fujairah along the Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road on Monday. The terrified woman told the police that she was unable to stop her car because her cruise control system had failed.
“The woman’s car was moving at 140kmph because the speed control system had developed a mechanical glitch.
We dispatched two patrol cars. Policemen in these cars established contact with her and managed to locate her car,” a police official said.
The policemen advised the woman to shift the automatic gear to neutral (N) and apply brakes as constantly as she could. They coordinated with the traffic police, who secured her travel path, until her car reached the Fujairah Court of Justice. Following several attempts made by the policemen, they successfully brought the woman’s car to a halt. No damage was reported.
