Speaking at the weekend in Dar es Salaam he said it will also have a public ward with at least 300 beds and a private one with 60 beds, due for completion by March next year.
“By March, next year, the third phase will be complete and this is a major achievement …the services to be offered there are currently not available,” he said.
The first phase involved construction of offices and a ward with 32 private beds. The second saw the construction of a building to house a high tech laboratory, X-ray, Intensive Care Unit and Emergency, Theatre and Sterilisation unit.
The project, which aims at increasing the number of patients being treated at MOI, cost 17.9bn/-, according to PR Jumaa Almasi.
Patrick Mvungi, the MOI Public Relations Officer, singled out challenges that MOI faces to include a limited budget to purchase equipment and other materials as well as under staffing.
