The eligible applicants represent first and second batches of citizens to be granted houses under orders by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In line with the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Follow-up Committee of Initiatives of UAE President has issued the final approval for granting houses in different emirates to 1,480 eligible applicants who satisfied all statutory requirements to get houses.
The eligible applicants represent first and second batches of citizens to be granted houses under orders by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The approval coincides with the country’s celebrations of its 42nd National Day anniversary.
During a meeting held under the chairmanship of Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, the committee also released a preliminary list of 1,553 citizens, representing the third batch of eligible applicants for houses and asked them to report to the Ministry of Public Works.
Also approved was a list of 80 citizens entitled to houses in Fujairah’s Al Bidiya area and 37 citizens entitled to houses in Sharjah’s Dibba Al Hosn area.
The committee discussed other items on the agenda and took appropriate decisions on them.
Al Zaabi said the committee endorsed the budget for phase-3 and submitted findings and recommendations to Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, who will in return, submit them to the President. “Provision of proper housing to the citizens of the UAE has always been a top priority for President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The recent lists are considered the largest ever released,” he added.
The completed projects, built at a cost of Dh6 billion, span hospitals, clinics, health centres, roads, bridges, dams, houses and mosques.
“Citizens are already starting to benefit from the projects. We look forward to seeing progress going by the same pace in the remaining projects to achieve the objectives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s initiatives.”
The third phase works are mainly focused on housing projects for citizens. They include construction and renovation of 10,000 houses. They also entail, under General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s orders, construction of 2,500 houses in different areas. The new houses boast world-class, best architectural design and fully-serviced residential communities, with all requirements of sustainability and green buildings taken into consideration.
Meanwhile, work has been completed on the Shaikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The hospital, with an award-winning design, was built at a total cost of over Dh1 billion.
The committee is also preparing to appoint an international consultant for the designing of the Shaikh Khalifa Trauma Hospital in Sharjah, the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region.
The committee is also working on a number of projects to build mosques in different areas of the country, including the Shaikh Zayed Mosque in Fujairah and Khalufa Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah.
Al Zaabi praised the performance of the different teams working on the President’s initiatives.
The committee meeting was attended by Mohammed Abdullah Al Romaithi, Jabr Al Suwaidi, Saeed Mohamed Al Miqbali, Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi, Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, Hassan Al Mansouri and Ali Dhamnai.
