IPTL Signs 2,000mw Power Contract for Kenya, Tanzania

A GRAND power project to benefit both Tanzania and Kenya will be implemented by the Pan African Power Solution, with its subsidiary company the Independent Power Tanzania Limited (IPTL).
Completion of logistical arrangements follows conclusion of discussions and an agreement between the company administration and the Kenyan government for production of 2,000MW.
Confirming immediate plans for implementation of the project in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Kenyan Petroleum and Energy Principal Secretary, Eng Joseph Njoroge said a letter of agreement was signed on August 19, 2014 and Pan African Power (PAP) was represented by the executive Chairman, Harbinder Sing Sethi.
Details with regards to the content of the letter with reference number ME&D/ CONF/3/2/73A indicate that all sides, meaning PAP, Tanzania and Kenya should convene as soon as possible to decide on the implementation modalities.
Addressing journalists in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, the General Secretary who doubles the company's lawyer (PAP), Joseph Mwakandege said the company is focused on implementation of development projects for people's development instead of dwelling on political squabbles.
"We are pleased to see that the government of Kenya and Tanzania recognise our commitment to serving the people and this reality is a source of inspiration for our company to perform with excellence," Mwakandege said.
He further advised power production companies to share expertise so as to enhance reliable supply of power to the people instead delaying development projects.
The company has been at loggerheads with David Kafulila (MP - Kigoma South NCCR- Mageuzi) who according to media reports alleged that Mr Seth who is the Head of PAP was banned from any business in Kenya.
