Addressing a public rally in Mafia, Mr Nnauye said the trend showed that a good number of opposition parties which are part of national unity governments usually disappear as they no longer take care of public needs.
He said the same applied to CUF, whose popularity had ended since it teamed up with CCM in the formation of a unity government.
Mr Nnauye gave the example of various opposition leaders in Africa, such as Kenya's Raila Odinga and Zimbabwe’s Morgan Tsvangirai. “CUF is heading to its end in politics.
We realised that Mr Seif Shariff Hamad was power-hungry. We gave him what he wanted knowing that his days in politics would be numbered,” he said.
He counselled CUF members to cross over to CCM, which was the party addressing people’s needs as the opposition had run short of policies and were now engaging in dirty politics.
