The club’s golf manager Sophie Nyanjera told the ‘Daily News’ from Zanzibar that the course is ready to host the inaugural event which is expected to be interesting.
“We’ll stage the CEO golf tournament on July 18 and all arrangements are progressing well,” she said.
She, however, said the event will be limited to 40 invited players. “Invitations are being distributed to specific golfers as the tournament is limited to 40 players,” said Nyanjera.
“It’s going to be an afternoon shotgun format start which allows all players to tee off at the same time,” she added. Nyanjera said the players will be entertained with a welcome dinner function to be held a day before the tournament.
The manager said players will be given complementary half board accommodation at the hotel for the two-day event. “Each player will, however, have to pay an entry fee of 60 US dollars… the money includes golf cart hire,” she said.Nyanjera also said fabulous prizes await the winners in the individual stable ford format event. The prize for the first individual winner is a sixmonth corporate package valued at 2,500 US dollars.
She also said the course plans to host as many tournaments as possible for the development of the game in the Isles and to build relationship amongst golfers.
The newly-built Sea Cliff golf course is the first in Zanzibar. Designed by a South African golf expert, the course was officially opened by Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein early this year and is one of the best in East Africa.
