Speaking at the party’s offices in Dar es Salaam after Magufuli had collected the forms, President Kikwete said CCM would win the election because they have the ability, knowledge and experience to do so.
Kikwete said CCM was well prepared in all aspects and it was just waiting for the campaigns to kick off for Tanzanians to witness the how the party is big and important.
According to him, if there are persons who think that CCM is not serious they will see in this year’s election.
“This year we are going to show them who we are, they are going to observe our music…….CCM is not a party to play with…… Let us wait for October,” vowed President Kikwete. He also said that “Every human being was created with a habit of ambition but there are some people who are over ambitious………people like these will not get chance in our party.”
For his part, CCM presidential candidate Dr John Magufuli said that when elected he would work together with the party and the government leaders to ensure that they lift the country to upper levels of development.
He outlined his priority areas in the party’s manifesto, citing job creation through investment in the revolution of agriculture, industry and trade.
Magufuli said when he is elected he would embrace the political ideologies that were built by the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and warned public servants who don’t fulfill their obligations of stern measures taken against them.
He insisted that he will not disappoint Tanzanians because he was aware of their plight.
“I will work hand-in-glove with other party leaders in insuring that the country is lifted to a point where all people enjoy the country’s resources.
He however said that he is very excited with the support he got from the public, something which shows how much they trust him promising not to let them down.
Magufuli’s running mate, Samia Suluhu commended the government and the party for raising the status of women by placing them in various political and government positions stating that her election to the position was not mistakably done because “development is my priority.”
“A woman is everything. Providing a chance to a woman to be a leader is a very big step towards development because women always see things far ahead……….they have a big vision of development,” she said.
She also promised Tanzanians that she will listen and solve their problems.
Welcoming President Kikwete to deliver his speech, CCM general secretary Abdulrahman Kinana said that there is no force to push back CCM in its endevour to lead the country into development.
“CCM will never break apart because all people within it are keen and well committed in bringing country’s development,” he said.
