Zacadia which stands for Zanzibar-Canadian Diaspora Association is a non-profit Organization based in Toronto, Canada and in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The website states that Zacadia was formed due to the creation of the Department of International Cooperation and Zanzibar Diaspora (DICZD) in Zanzibar, under the Ministry of State in the President's and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council's Office.
The creation of this Department was the result of the political reconciliation which took place in Zanzibar in 2010 and was a clear manifestation that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar did realise that Zanzibaris living abroad can contribute immensely towards the progress of their country as have other people of other countries.
The website goes further to state that ZACADIA's main objective is to foster, promote, encourage, facilitate and coordinate help for Zanzibar and act as a bridge between Zanzibaris living in Canada and their homeland.
On its homepage which is beautifully adorned with colours, the Organization narrates that "the task of pushing Zanzibar ahead cannot be accomplished by a small group alone".
The Organization appeals to Zanzibaris living in Canada to join hands with ZACADIA in their efforts to extricate and rescue their country from a socio-economic quagmire in which it is now wallowing.
"ZACADIA craves to work hand in glove with all Zanzibaris wherever they are towards the removal of the crippling power cuts in Zanzibar, strengthening of the fragile economy and eradication of abject poverty throughout the Isles".
The website allows Zanzibaris wherever they live in Canada to register themselves within its database, so that Zanzibari communities in Canada could help each other in time of need.
Zacadia guarantees that personal and private information collected will never be revealed to any other parties except in emergency situations only.
