Lowassa vows to improve Tunduma border post!

The Presidential candidate for Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) Edward Lowassa
The Presidential candidate for Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) Edward Lowassa has promised to change and increase efficiency of the Tunduma border post between Tanzania and Zambia in his first 21 days.

Lowassa said: "I want to improve the Tunduma border to international standards. It will operate 24 hours to ensure effective revenue collections.
He was speaking at a campaign rally in Tunduma town, Mbeya Region. The rally that was postponed on Saturday evening due to generator mishap and sound system problems was again held here yesterday at Tunduma Primary School grounds.

The presidential candidate said that Tunduma border is very crucial for the economic growth of the country as it generates 34bn/- per annum.
He promised to make bold decisions to realise his development dreams. He said the traffic congestion problem at the border will be dealt with accordingly.

Responding to queries raised by Tunduma Parliamentary Seat contender Frank Mwakajoka, Lowassa assured the residents to form a strategic committee to work on water problems countrywide.“I am aware of water problems here ... I promise to end them as soon as I take over power. I don't want you to experience power and infrastructure problems," said Lowassa.

Earlier, Kingunge Ngombale-Mwiru insisted that Tanzanians are yearning for change.

He said: "Tanzanians are in support of Chadema's change policy ... they want changes that will bring development and improve their livelihood," he said insisting to have confidence in Lowassa.

Ngombale-Mwiru said the coming government under the Coalition of Peoples Constitution (Ukawa) will embrace the good things left by the late founder of the nation, Julius Kambarage Nyerere since the ruling party has opted to ignore them.

Chadema National Chairman Freeman Mbowe said Lowassa's decision to join the party has united the nation. He said through Lowassa, Tanzanians regardless of their societal groups are now united and support change.

For his part, Tunduma Parliamentary Seat contender Frank Mwakajoka said the residents experience serious water shortage.

According to him, Tunduma town’s population is more than 200,000 but only 14 percent of them have access to clean and safe water.

He however called on Lowassa to work on traffic jam and electricity problems.

Mwakajoka urged the residents to vote for Ukawa candidates at all levels for their social services to be improved.
