Give us a chance to form the next government so that we can serve you better,” Mr Hamad told a campaign meeting in Pemba. He said plans to create an airline will be implemented alongside building a modern airport in Pemba and seaports for Wete and Mkoani.
“There’s no justification for poverty in Pemba and Unguja because we have a lot of opportunities to eradicate poverty,” Mr Hamad said when he also met a group of members of the business community, farmers and entrepreneurs.
He said that Zanzibar’s geographical position was an advantage and that by improving operations at airports and seaports, the twin islands can change dramatically to better life of its citizens.
“We have enough resources; we only need full autonomy and workable plans to change Zanzibar within a short period. Countries like Rwanda and Mozambique are moving faster than us because of good planning,” Mr Hamad said.
Meanwhile, Mr Hamad said that he was certain of peaceful election contrary to what some people say that CUF is planning to cause chaos on polling day and after. “We need the electoral commissions to be transparent in supervising the election,” he said.
