Troubled Zanzibar meet Burundi national soccer team in this year’s edition of the Council of East and central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) senior Challenge Cup opener that kicks off in Addis Ababa on November 21.
Zanzibar are pooled together with holders Kenya and Uganda in group B while group A teams comprise Mainland Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia and hosts Ethiopia.
Group C teams are Sudan, South Sudan, invitees Malawi and Djibouti.
Hosts Ethiopia are clashing against Rwanda in the second game of the opening day. Mainland Tanzania will be in action on the second day of the two week long tourney against Somalia while holders Kenya and Uganda will lock horns in the second game of the day two. After the preliminaries and knockout stages, the final will be played on December 5.
Mainland Tanzania known as the Kilimanjaro Stars are coached by Abdallah Kibaden who was appointed by the Tanzania Football Federation early this week.
