
The Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development Minister William Lukuvi yesterday held a meeting with the ministry’s heads of departments to discuss major land issues in the country.
The issues included the Oysterbay Beach development project, formulation of real estate regulatory authority, planned settlement and affordable decent housing among others.
According to the Ministry’s Information Officer Mboza Lwandiko; “this is an internal meeting involving only the ministry officials and the minister.”
Minister Lukuvi, who served the same post in the past administration, has repeatedly expressed determination and commitment to ensure he buries bureaucracy and enable less fortunate families to get land and housing.
Last week the minister gave a number of directions to its top officials including ensuring availability of affordable housing. He warned staff to operate diligently or risk losing their jobs.He ordered them to submit a real regulatory estate authority draft detailing the establishment of the authority to control the rapidly booming construction sector. intersection all the way to Sea Cliff hotel will begin and the whole outlook.
The Director of Housing was asked to submit a comprehensive all inclusive plan that details how everyone (both wealthy and low income earners) will secure proper housing facilities.
Lukuvi also directed the officials to submit reports on idle land owned by private investors.The heads of departments were also supposed to deliver to the minister the detailed financial reports since July this year.
