Antipode hypersonic jet could fly from New York to London in 11 minutes

People who hate to travel may be delighted to know that an aircraft designer has come up with a supersonic jet concept that can do just that. Now travelling from London to New York could be within 11 minutes. 

The jet concept is called Antipode and it has the potential to elevate the flying experience with its ability to break the sound barrier. 

The Antipode is a supersonic business aircraft that can reach speeds up to 16,000 mph. On its leading edges, the aircraft uses counter flowing jets of air to decrease heat and the sonic shockwave.

The Antipode may take-off from any type of airfield by attaching a reusable rocket boosters to its wings. The boosters would provide sufficient power to lift off the aircraft and climb up to 40,000 feet. During this time, the Antipode is said to have the ability to reach Mach 5.

Once up in the air, the acceleration boosters would detach from the aircraft and return to air base. During flight, the Antipode’s computer system would flare up its supersonic combustion engine and increase speed up to Mach 24. This is nearly 12 times faster than the Concorde, which runs at about 1,354 mph.

The Antipode would direct some of the supersonic speed air via a spout placed on the aircraft’s nose. This move would pave the way for long penetration mode (LPM), which would cause the temperature to decline due to aero-heating. LPM may also cool all the other leading edges of the aircraft by putting linear nozzles onto it.

LMP can also decrease the shock wave and noise associated with its impeccable ability to break the sound barrier.

The Antipode looks very suitable for high-profile personalities and government officials who need to travel from one point of the globe to another as quickly as possible. ‘During time-sensitive crises, it would transport highly ranked officials across the globe in a matter of hours,’ says the official website of the Antipode’s designer.

Passengers may travel across the world by up to 20,000 kilometres under an hour. Who ever said it would take a lifetime to travel the entire the world? Not with the Antipode!

Charles Bombardier, the industrial engineer behind the hypersonic aircraft concept Skreemr, designed the Antipode. Skreemr can fly up to Mach 10.
