Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed the accident while the GTC confirmed that their officials have rushed to the site and further details can be availed only then. Injured have been admitted to hospitals in Bahla, Ibri and Nizwa. More details awaited. According to sources, the bus had left Salalah for Dubai at 3.30pm on Monday with 28 passengers onboard.

The last time an accident involving a public transport bus was in 2004 on the route between Salalah and Nizwa, which claimed the lives of 24 people and injured eight others. This crash happened at mid-night and the armed forces had to be called in to evacuate the dead and injured as the crash site was very remote from the main cities.
