CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) members and fans in Pemba have been celebrating the victory of their presidential candidate, Dr Ali Mohamed Shein, on March 20, this year, in the repeat general elections, as they wish to attend the swearing in ceremony.
“We are happy to have won the top position and a majority in the House of Representatives and councillors. We must thank God for the peaceful elections,” said Mr Othman Bakar of Chakechake.
A group of youths who were moving around, riding motorcycles, said: “We will be happy to join our colleagues in Unguja to attend the swearing in ceremony.
We are very happy!” CCM candidates won all the five constituencies in Chakechake district which include Chakechake, Wawi, Ole, Chonga and Ziwani, thanks to the boycott of the Civic United Front (CUF) which had dominated the district for years.
In Chakechake Constituency the results were as follows: Mr Salum Kombo from ACT Wazalendo (37), Mr Nassor Harith of ADC (274), Mr Suleiman Sarahani Said CCM (4,455), and Mr Omar Ali Shehe CUF (128).
Wawi Constituency: Mr Khamis Mohamed ACT Wazalendo (74), Mr Said Seif ADC (994), Mr Hamad Abdalla CCM (4,139), Ms Maria Saleh CHAUMMA (32), Mr Khalifa Abdalla CUF (89).
Ole Constituency: Mr Khamis Saleh ADC (498), Mr Mussa Ali Mussa CCM (3,766), Mr Hamad Masoud Hamad CUF (48), and Mr Nassor Salim Khamis NRA (0). Chonga Constituency: Ms Fatma Khamis Ali ACT Wazalendo (93), Ms Zainab Rajab ADC (173) and Mr Shaib Simai Ali CCM (3,555).
