Four siblings die in fatal road accident
Four siblings died here on Wednesday in a road accident that left both parents hospitalised. The family was travelling from Iringa to Dodoma.
Police reports indicate that the family of pastor Pastory Michael Majembe of the Tanzania Assembly of God Church (TAG) met the fateful incident in the morning, killing two children on the spot, injuring two others who later died in the hospital while undergoing treatment.
The clergy in charge of Chidachi Church in Dodoma Municipality was driving his family in a Toyota Spacio with registration numbers T 557 BRQ which was involved in the accident at Seluka Village, Chiogola Ward in Mpwapwa District.
Acting Dodoma Regional Police Commander, David Mnyambuga said in a statement that the accident was caused by high speed.“The vehicle swerved off the road, overturned and caused the death of two children, Glady Pastory (5) and Pastory Majembe(11) on the spot,” he said in the statement.
Those who sustained injuries and were admitted at the Dodoma Regional Hospital include their mother, Grace Isack Roti (45), Pastor Majembe (51) and their children Isack Majembe (17) and Gabriel Majembe (13) who later died.
Doctor-in Charge, Dr Zainab Chaula confirmed receiving the casualties at around five o’clock, stating that both Isack and Gabriel later died while undergoing treatment.
She, however, noted that their father, Pastor Majembe, who was admitted in ward number one, and the mother Grace Roti who was admitted in ward number eight are responding well to treatment.
