Woman's body found lying on road in Dubai

  • Dubai Police and Public Prosecutors have launched an investigation to find out the causes of the woman's death.
The Dubai Police are investigating the death of a young Georgian woman who was found dead lying on a road near Dubai Courts.

Dubai Police and Public Prosecutors have launched an investigation to find out the causes of the woman's death.

The dead woman's body - who is believed to be in her early 20s - in only undergarments, was found behind a bus stop facing the buildings which house Dubai Courts and Public Prosecution, and Rashid Hospital.

Police found another woman, a 24-year old, lying next to her, who was conscious but seemed to be in abnormal condition and under the influence of narcotics. Police officials and prosecutors were unable to communicate with the woman, who speaks only Georgian. A translator was brought in to help investigate the circumstances.

"We learnt that a woman's body was found at around 5am on Thursday. The body was found behind a bus stop opposite Dubai Courts' building. The police are now gathering evidence and leads about the circumstances of her death," a senior prosecutor told Khaleej Times.

The operations room of the Dubai Police received a tip-off about the dead body early on Thursday morning.

The police rushed to the site and found that the woman was dead. They noted that she had a small wound and a bruise on her forehead, leading them to believe that she either fell down or was struck.

The woman was found to be wearing only her bra, underwear and a small top.

The police investigation is ongoing, and the body was transported to the Dubai Police forensic lab for autopsy. Police officials and prosecutors believe that there was a criminal motive behind her death. The case is being treated a criminal case.
