The Murraqabat Police have ordered an Arab man to take care of his mentally ill son, after they were informed that the 15-year-old boy was found sleeping outside the flat.

Brigadier Ali Ghanim, director of the Murraqabat Police Station, said the police called the Arab man and the elder son and asked them to sign an undertaking saying they would take care of the young boy.According to the police, the boy's step-mother did not like the boy and made him sleep outside.
Brig Ali Ghanim said the police explained to the father that what he was doing was criminal as per the Wadeema Law and that if he repeats the act he would be referred to court for endangering the life of his child.
On being informed about the boy's plight, the police rushed to the spot and found the boy sleeping in the corridor of the building.
On interrogation, the father informed the police that he had divorced his first wife, the boy's mother. His second wife was not comfortable with the boy and hence the family had forced him to sleep outside. Brig Ali Ghanim said he had warned the family against repeating the act and cited the example of how a mentally ill child who was not monitored by the family had gone walking on the streets and got hit by a car. He was referred to the hospital and the police took legal action against the family.
