UAE: Parents forget baby in Dubai taxi on way to airport!

• A top official at the tourist police department warned tourists of leaving their children and/or luggage in public transport.

A couple, who were in the UAE for tourist purposes, forgot their infant inside a cab on their way to the airport. The Gulf national couple left their sleeping baby in the cab's back seat as they alighted at the airport.

It was only when the taxi took off that they had realized that they had forgotten their child. They immediately informed airport police, which in turn contacted the RTA to help retrieve the baby.

The father of the child told the police that he didn't look at the backseat because he thought the child was with his wife. They also disclosed that the time the cab picked them up from Al Riqa street as a way to help find the cab in question. Based on this information, authorities managed to track the movement of the cab through state-of-the-art GPS

They successfully contacted the cabbie who was having his break at a local cafeteria. The driver said that he was completely unaware of the child's existence inside car. Rushing back to his cab, he discovered the baby sleeping safe and sound in the backseat.

The honourable cabbie rushed back to the airport where he returned the baby to the concerned parents. The family then boarded their flight just in the nick of time.
