A video on NDTV posted by CGTN, shows workers doing the last minute safety checks to ensure that the glass sky walk is completely safe. The men, who are just wearing helmets, are seen smiling as they jump up and down on the glass tiles and smash it with sledgehammers. Though the glass tiles did not break, the smashing caused some fine cracks and the workers then jumped on those tiles to prove it is entirely safe.
In 2016, over 30 people were randomly invited to smash the Zhangjiajie bridge in China's Hunan province with sledgehammers so that fears about walking on suspended glass walkway are put to rest. Later, an SUV weighing two tonnes with 11 passengers seated in it, drove over the glass panels.
In an incident in 2015, a stainless steel tumbler that fell from a height, created a crack on one of the glass panels fell from a height managed to crack one of the glass panels. People standing on the glass bridge, panicked and started running to hold onto the railings for safety. Post the incident, authorities stated that even if the glass cracks, it is safe to walk on it as the bridges usually have multiple layers of glass.
