The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the matter and the girl has been taken out of the home by child services, according to Fox 59 reports quoted in Daily Mail. The potentially dangerous mixture is misleading people by claiming to cure the ailment.
After the reports of the incident emerged, president and founder of Applied Behavioral Center for Autism, Sherry Quinn, said that it was common for parents to look for ways to treat autism, adding, that the ailment has no cure. "Taking things into their own hands is something that many parents have done out of desperation, out of hope," Quinn said.
It is not clear how long the girl was being fed bleach and whether she suffered any internal damages. While, Behavioral Center Clinical Director Kelly Goudreau added, "I think it's really important to look at what's been researched and what's been clinically effective."
