INDIA: Fake spiritual leader tells woman to marry him to save her sick mother!

• He told her he could help her mother get better.

A conman tricked a young woman into marrying him in order to save her mother from a severe illness in India.

The 42-year-old electrician had met the young woman whilst visiting her home to repair a broken wire. He observed the woman's mother who reportedly suffers from a mental illness, as per Mid-Day report.
A few days after, he contacted the young woman; a 23-year old IT engineer, and revealed that he is a "spiritual leader" who can cure her mother.

After performing some purifications rituals at her house, the man reportedly requested the daughter wear a bridal sari.

He then took her to the temple and told her she needed to marry him for the ritual healing to work. He had her sign her name on a paper indicating that they were now husband and wife.

In shock, the young woman resisted his attempts at molesting her and reported the man to the police.

It appears the man is unemployed and may have tried to con other women before. Police are investigating the incident.
