World's 'unluckiest restaurant' gets hit by car for the third time!

  • The accident comes just two weeks after a driver rammed into the restaurant.
A restaurant in Denver, Colorado, seems to be the unluckiest after it was hit for the third time by a vehicle this year. The Hornet restaurant suffered several thousand dollars worth of damage after a car slammed straight into the eatery on early Saturday morning.

The popular restaurant on First Avenue and Broadway in Denver's Baker neighbourhood now has a slogan: #NotADriveThru. While the restaurant posted on Facebook a picture of the BMW that went straight through the windows and into the dining area around 2:00am. The driver was taken into custody, Denver Post quoted Tyrone Campbell a police spokesman as saying.Fortunately no was reported to be injured in the accident. Katelyn Erickson the restaurant's bar manager said that they were closed for brunch Saturday but employees spent the day preparing to open a portion of the eatery for dinner.

"It's really crazy, honestly. I have so much gratitude that everyone is safe," Erickson said adding that the crash could have been disastrous as a bartender left the area just before the car came crashing through. "If it was a few second before, he wouldn't be with us. That's how fast the car was going," she said.

The accident comes just two weeks after a driver rammed into the restaurant while trying to avoid hitting another car. While in February, another driver hit one pedestrian before ramming his car into the restaurant's window and patio door.

"Three times in one year. That's just bonkers," Erickson said, adding that the damage is so extensive that the restaurant had to close off nearly two full sections, or 40 of approximately 250 seats.

"It's really sad because it's the holidays. I have to tell servers that I can't give them shifts. These people are like family. It's like telling my sister, 'You can't work today'," Erickson said.
