THE BEIT EL AJAIB (HOUSE OF WONDERS) BUILDING IN ZANZIBAR
This mark in History took place after the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and The Sultanate of Oman signed a 6 Million Dollars Grant by The Sultanate of Oman to The People of Zanzibar for the major repair and rehabilitation of this UNESCO recognized Grade A First Class Heritage site protected by both local and international laws.
The signing ceremony took place today 11th October at The Ministry of Information, Heritage and Culture Zanzibar under the leadership and guidance of Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, the Minister himself and Hon. Dr. Salim Mohamed Mahruky, The Undersecretary of The Ministry of Heritage and Culture from The Sultanate of Oman.
Other present officials were Deputy Minister for Local Government and Special Forces Department in Zanzibar, Deputy Minister in the 2nd Vice President's Office, Advisor to the President of Zanzibar on History and Heritage, Chairperson ZSTCDA The Authority responsible for The Zanzibar Stone Town Conservation and Development Authority, and all higher senior officials of the Ministry for Information Tourism and Heritage Zanzibar in the presence of The Consular General of Oman in Zanzibar His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Hamood AlHabsi and Director General Stone Town Conservation and Development Authority Dr. ISSA Sarboko Makaran.
The total value of the contract signed with an Italian Company who won the Tender known as Gillardi is 6million US dollars
