- A Personal Appeal from Dr. Shaaban Fundi
By Dr. Shaaban Fundi
- Give a Child Their First Laptop. Change Their Future Forever.
When I ask my students what they want to become, I hear the same answers children give everywhere in the world.
"I want to be a doctor."
"I want to become an engineer."
"I want to build airplanes."
"I want to discover new medicines."
Then reality sets in.
Many of these bright children have never used a laptop computer.
Not because they aren't capable.
Not because they don't want to learn.
Simply because they were born in a rural village where technology remains out of reach.
That is why I am asking for your help.
Meet Kibogoji Experiential Learning School.
My name is Dr. Shaaban Fundi.
After spending more than two decades as an educator in the United States, I founded Kibogoji Experiential Learning School in rural Turiani, Tanzania, because I believe that a child's future should never depend on their birthplace.
Our school serves children from families who work hard every day to give their children a better future.
We don't simply teach children to memorize facts.
We teach them to think.
To solve problems.
To ask questions.
To become leaders.
Every day our students remind us why hope is stronger than circumstance.
Brilliant Children. One Big Barrier.

Our students are eager to learn.
They are curious.
They are creative.
But one obstacle stands between them and the opportunities enjoyed by millions of children around the world.
Technology.
While students in urban schools learn computer programming, digital research, artificial intelligence, robotics, and online collaboration, many of our students have never touched a computer.

Without digital literacy, they begin secondary school already behind.
Without intervention, that gap only grows wider.
We Are Not Waiting for Someone Else to Solve This Problem.

We Are Not Waiting for Someone Else to Solve This Problem.
At Kibogoji, learning happens through doing.
Our students plant trees.
They care for the environment.
They conduct science investigations.
They learn teamwork.
They solve real-world problems.
This is why we call ourselves an Experiential Learning School.
Imagine what these same students could accomplish if they had access to computers.
Imagine a child conducting scientific research online.
Writing their first computer program.
Connecting with classrooms across the world.
Learning skills that could lift an entire family out of poverty.
That future is within reach.
Our Goal
We are raising $10,000 to purchase:

Our Goal
We are raising $10,000 to purchase:
20 laptop computers
Protective carrying cases
Charging station
Educational software
Internet connectivity
Teacher technology training
These 20 laptops will become the first computer lab in our school's history.
Over the next several years, hundreds of children will learn using these same computers.
This is an investment that will continue changing lives long after this campaign ends.
More Than Computers

When you donate...
You are not buying a laptop.
You are giving a child confidence.
You are opening a world they never imagined.
You are giving rural children access to the same digital tools available to children in the world's most developed cities.
You are helping close one of the greatest educational inequalities of our generation.
Every Gift Changes a Life.
$25 helps purchase educational software.
$50 helps provide technology access for one student.
$100 helps purchase part of a laptop.
$250 sponsors a significant portion of a laptop.
$500 brings us dramatically closer to another computer.
$1,000 equips multiple children with technology that will serve them for years.
No donation is too small.
Every dollar brings us closer to putting a laptop into the hands of a child who has never had one.
Looking Beyond Today
This campaign is about much more than 20 laptops.
It is about proving that children in rural Tanzania deserve the same opportunities as children anywhere in the world.
Our vision is to build a school where innovation, creativity, technology, and experiential learning prepare every child to compete in a global economy.
These laptops are the next step toward that vision.
Will You Be Part of This Story?
If this campaign reaches its goal, somewhere in rural Tanzania a child will open a laptop for the very first time.
That moment may inspire the next engineer.
The next teacher.
The next doctor.
The next scientist.
The next entrepreneur.
And years from now, when that child changes the world, you will know you helped make it possible.
Please donate today.
If you cannot donate, please share this campaign with your friends, family, church, workplace, alumni network, and social media.
With gratitude,

A Note from ZNK:
As promised in yesterday's editorial, Zanzibar Ni Kwetu (ZNK) has already made an anonymous contribution of USD 250 as a gesture of our commitment to this noble cause. We did so because we believe that the best way to encourage others to give is to first give ourselves. We now warmly invite members of the ZNK family, as well as all other well-wishers who are able to do so, to join us in supporting this worthy initiative. Every contribution, however modest, brings us one step closer to placing a laptop in the hands of a child who dreams of a brighter future. May this small beginning inspire many others to invest in the future of our children.
