Tanzania: Zanzibar House Session Starts
Zanzibar — ZANZIBAR lawmakers will Wednesday start a two-week ordinary session following a two-month recess, Mr Yahya Khamis Hamad, the House Clerk said at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to Hamad, the session will include, among others, debate on the amendment of the Zanzibar identification and registration law and the proposed bill to establish registrar for business institutions.
He said that lawmakers will see the swearing-in of the new Bububu legislator on CCM ticket who won the September 16 by-election. The election results are being disputed in the High Court by the Civic United Front (CUF) candidate, Mr Issa Khamis.
"The legislators will get answers to their 71 questions and have opportunity of asking supplementary questions," the clerk saidl, adding that the members of the House will also hear reports from selected House committees assigned to investigate various complaints raised from members.
