SHARJAH - The body of a new born baby boy was found dumped in a bin by Sharjah Municipality garbage collectors in the Al Dhaid area, officials from Sharjah Police have confirmed.
The Municipality workers immediately notified the police upon finding the dead baby who was wrapped in clothes.
A police forensic team rushed to the scene and gathered fingerprints and evidence and investigations into the death are ongoing. The body was taken to the police forensic laboratory and the unusual circumstances have raised suspicions of illegal child birth and murder.
The police believe that the baby may have been born as the result of an illegal relationship, which have led police to believe that he may have been killed by one of his parents.
Sharjah has seen a number of similar cases in the emirate of late. In 2010, police found the remains of a seven month old baby girl dumped near the Sharjah Aquarium. Doctors could not tell whether she was dead when abandoned or if she died after being abandoned.
