Meanwhile, deputy minister for energy and minerals told the House that the government is taking all necessary precautions in refunding the money owed to Pan-African Energy Tanzania Limited.

“This is a business company and has invested in the country, although we owe them money, they also owe us a relatively bigger amount … we’re working on the situation to ensure that the debts are cleared,” Simbachawene explained.
Simbachawene advised the MPs to use their political positions to educate the public on the country’s various discoveries such of gas that can help build a power base.
Citing the recent discoveries of gas in Mtwara, the deputy minister said lack of formal knowledge among members of the community was behind the mass protests experienced in the area.
