NBC OPENS PRIVATE BANKING PRODUCT FOR RICH CLIENTS

31st August 2013

IPP Executive Chairman Dr. Reginald Mengi cuts a ribbon to officiate the opening of the NBC Private Banking Suite for Affluent Customers at it's Sea Cliff Branch, Oysterbay in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Affluent people in the society can now access special banking services following the introduction of a private banking facility, by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC).

The facility will enable NBC affluent customers to access a range of products and services designed to meet their individual requirements and benefit from easier access to credit facilities offered by the bank.

Under this service customers will be required to have a minimum of Sh75 million in the bank account. The NBC opened a special centre in Dar es Salaam yesterday for that purpose.

Gracing the occasion for the introduction of the new bank service, IPP Executive Chairman Dr Reginald Mengi said the move will help cater for the country’s growing economy.
He thanked the bank for the step it has taken as this shows that the bank has reached high levels of performance, bearing the fact that being a financial institution it plays a key role in facilitating the country’s economy.

As the number of people who require financial services in the country keeps on increasing everyday, and with more banks opening shop, it is prudent for banks to think of ways to expand their services to cater for special needs, the business leader stated.

He praised the NBC management for innovative products, catering for various categories of clients at a moment when the country’s economy is growing at an exceptional rate.
“The need for tailor made services is evident,” he said, noting that organizations which succeed are usually those which adapt to constantly changing market dynamics by providing solutions for customers.

NBC Managing Director Ms. Mizinga Melu said since NBC has been in operation for 46 years it has vast experience of handling customers, and hence there is need to cope with emerging global technological changes.

“In view of this, the bank has to identify specific requirements to be taken into account to suit new products and services,” she said, noting that the bank has decided to introduce the private banking suite.

The centre is the first to be launched in the country, she pointed out, elaborating that seven other centers would be put up in other cities and municipal centres by end of next year.

NBC head of retail services Mmoloki Legodu said that with this launch the bank aims to cater for the diverse financial needs of their customers, including their families, with exclusivity.

Customers will be able to enjoy the attention of a dedicated relationship manager and use of state of the art centre to meet all banking needs, not having to stand in queue.

NBC Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs manager Edwin Mhina said that customers under this category of service would use their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards free for every transaction.

Customers will enjoy a reduction on costs for sending money through telegraphic transfer to settle payments of imported goods. These would be reduced to a certain percentage rate he did not specify.

NBC is one of the most highly present retail banks in the country with 46 years experience in providing financial services, with an expanded branch network and footprint.

It has 52 branches with over 1,200 staff, the use of Visa and MasterCard enabled ATMs and over 250 points of sales strategically located throughout the country.
