Speaking during a news conference held at Airtel offices yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Airtel Managing Director, Sunil Colaso was proud to announce that now TPB clients who are also Airtel money subscribers can now enjoy mobile financial services.
“Airtel Money targets Tanzania consumers’ daily financial needs, strengthening our partnership with TPB will allow our Airtel customers who bank with TPB across the country to enjoy easy banking services with their Airtel lines,” he said.
“The access to Airtel Money customers, allows transfer of funds from their bank accounts to their phone or transfer money from their bank account to business partners, friends or relatives accounts,” he explained.
“Through the extensive reach Airtel provides today, we see an ATM equivalent in less than 150kms with our over 20,000 Airtel money agents in both urban and rural Tanzania,” he added assuring clients of easy access to money withdraw and deposit centres.
The Bank's Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jema Msuya said the partnership will enforce the bank’s commitment to extend financial inclusion to other stakeholders.
“We are pleased to enter into this agreement with Airtel, because it reinforces our commitment to extend our services,” said Msuya.
He detailed that now clients will be able to receive information on, balance inquiries in their postal bank account, mini statements and bank transfers records only by a few clicks from the comfort of their homes, offices or on transit 24 hours a day, everyday.
“We completely assure them their transactions are safe, secure and will occur in real time,” said Airtel Money Operation Manager, John Ndunguru.
“Airtel Money is protected through a state of the art security application and is therefore not easily accessible by anyone other than the user,” he went on to say.
He mentioned of other services to be enjoyed by clients to include payment of utility bills such as Luku, DSTV and Dawasco or Transfer money directly from their Airtel money account into any Airtel partner Bank Account that now includes TPB.
Notably, only last week Airtel also provided a facility that will enable Airtel billing customers to pay for their monthly bills through Airtel money service.
