State Minister Prime in the Ministers’ Office, Investment and Empowerment, Dr Mary Nagu, revealed this during a press conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
She was briefing the press on developments recorded by the ministry through the private sector, empowerment and investment since her appointment to the Ministry early 2012.
She said what the President injected has changed the livelihoods of over 70,000 Tanzanians.
She said the returned amount has been allocated to other groups in the community, explaining that if Tanzanians get financial assistance they can transform their livelihoods.
Dr Nagu said it is time for Tanzanians to join efforts in order to compete with foreigners and invest in big projects that include oil and gas extraction.
On the development of the private sector, investment and empowerment, she said the 2013 draft policy for the private sector development is still underway.
In another development, the National Beekeeping Supplies Ltd and National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) yesterday signed a programme for sustainable honey production in southern, central and western zones.
A representative of the NEEC, David Camara, said the programme aims at ensuring that honey produced in Tanzania meets all international standards.
He said the intention is to also use honey to popularise the country and Kiswahili language.
